Independent measurement · July 2026
The security companies AI actually recommends.
People don't just search anymore — they ask AI who to call. So we measured the answer. We asked for the best home security and fire alarm companies in 34 U.S. metros, 4 different ways each — 240 checks in all — and recorded every company it named.
Only 1 in 16
of the 2,463 U.S. security companies we benchmarked ever came up — just 6.3%. These are the ones people are told to call.

We measured two kinds of security companies.
Home security companies — the ones that protect houses with alarm systems and monitoring — and fire alarm & fire protection companies, the ones building owners call. AI recommends 5.2% of the 1,936 home security companies we checked, and 10% of the 527 fire alarm companies. Each metro page below shows every list we measured there.
The most recommended security companies, metro by metro
Every metro below was benchmarked the same way: 4 customer-style questions per company type, every answer recorded. Pick your city to see the full measured list.
AI's answer moves between checks, so we publish how many of the 4 checks named each one instead of a rank that would change if we asked again.

Measured, never sold.
No security company can pay to appear on these lists. A company is listed only because AI actually recommended it when we asked — more than once. We publish how many of the checks named each one, not a place, because the count holds up when we ask again and a place doesn't. That's the whole formula.

How did you measure which U.S. security companies AI recommends?
We asked leading AI assistants the questions real customers ask — like "Who is the best home security company in my city?" and "I need fire alarm installation and inspection for my building. Who should I hire?" — 4 different ways for each type of company, and recorded every company it recommended. Each company on this list was named in more than one of those answers, and we publish how many named it rather than a place in a ranking — ask again and the top name often changes, but the count holds. We ran 240 checks for this edition and compared the answers against the 2,463 U.S. security companies in our dataset.
Can a security company pay to be on this list?
No. This list is measured, never sold. A company appears on it only if AI actually recommended it when we asked. Money cannot buy a place on this list. Sponsored blocks are labeled advertising and sit outside the ranked list.
What does it mean if a company is NOT on this list?
It means that when we asked leading AI assistants for a security company in that company's metro, that company never came up. That says nothing about the quality of their work — only that customers who ask AI for a recommendation are being sent somewhere else. Most security companies haven't shown up in AI answers yet, so the lists are short.
How often is this updated?
We re-run the same benchmark quarterly with the same methodology, so companies that improve their AI visibility can appear in the next update. This edition was measured in July 2026.
Do you run a security company?
If your company isn't on these lists, people who ask AI for a security company are being sent to someone else. Find out where you stand — free.
